Infinity Shred

Infinity Shred releases sophomore LP 'Long Distance,' plays Shea Stadium on 11.18

Infinity Shred's 2013 debut album Sanctuary was an instant cult favorite in NYC, where nothing else sounded remotely like it. Damon Hardjowirogo and George Stroud had previously worked together as Starscream, a dance-punk act that drew heavy influence from cyberpunk-ish soundtracks to 1980s Japanese films. A track off their last LP, Future, Towards the Edge of Forever (2011), titled “Thrashers (Infinity Shred),” gave the pair's next act both its name and new direction. Infinity's proggish techno reconfigures Jan Hammer's coked-up '80s instrumentals (think “The Miami Vice Theme”) into digital nightmares for the 21st century. Their brand new sophomore full length 'Long Distance' features a sound slightly evolved, with the includion of fuzz guitar elements and a vibe that's overall more ambient and dark. The trio will be embarking on an east coast tour in November, with a final date at Shea Stadium on the 18th. - This is mostly an excerpt from Brian Chidester's piece 'Electric Cafe' on The Deli Magazine's 41st issue.

A slew of Brooklyn bands play 1.21 Gigawatts fest on July 17-20

It looks like the 1.21 Gigawatts crew managed to grab every single decent to good to great indie rock band that’s up and coming in Brooklyn today for their upcoming 4 day yearly festival at Radio Bushwick on July 17-20: Bluffing, Big Neck Police, Infinity ShredSunflower Bean, Shark?, Tonstartsbandht, Celestial Shore, The Gradients, hell they even got Fiasco on the bill?! I remember listening to Fiasco in high school wishing I was cool enough to go to their shows, but back then I wasn’t in it for the music as much as trying to find an identity in this fucked up city we call home (calling all high school indie rockers: don’t be ashamed, you may not be old enough to drink yet but you are allowed to fuck up as many times as you want, so go to these shows, maybe you’ll get lucky and they won’t draw the X’s on your hand too deep!)

There will be also teen indie folk talent and recent Deli Record of the Month Frankie Cosmos. I could keep going, but the bottom line is that 1.21 Gigawatts is having a fun party with lots of talented NYC artist - I'll be there! - Jake Saunders

Infinity Shred: Miami Shredding Party Jams Moves to NYC

The Miami Sound has come to NYC. “Miami Vice,” that is. First Yacht Rock and now this - turns out EVERYTHING is psychedelic if you wear the proper lenses, which, for those of us who like to go on magical mystery tours, is once more a reminder of the infinitude of the universe. With that in mind, consider Infinity Shred’s feature-length LP “Sanctuary,” a synth-prog pastiche that proves the ephemeral’s refusal to ephemerate. And also that white pixie dust is not bound to leave the atmosphere anytime soon. Listen to 'Void Ripper' below. - Brian Chidester

Infinity Shred announces album 'Sanctuary' + play Glasslands on 08.03

Can music change our body's perception of temperature? Probably not, but NYC's Infinity Shred (once known as Starscream) gets very close to accomplishing that with their space-synth jams, which wrap the listener in several cold (and cool) layers of glacial synths. We don't need bloody "warm" recordings in July, give us AC in the headphones!

Infinity Shed will be releaseing their sophonore full length 'Sanctuary' in September via OK Go's label Parachute - check out the video of preview single 'Void Ripper' below, and see them at Glasslands on August 3 with The Depreciation Guild.
