Motion Studies

Motion Studies open for Body Language at House of Yes on 06.21

Motion Studies’ Facebook page perfectly describes their music as “weird disco”. The musical project of Tyler McCauley is an electric dance band that incorporates post-punk elements. Their single “In Our Days” is a wildly catchy and explosive track that has the potential to tempt any (famously static) New Yorker into dancing along to the beat. Motion Studies will be playing at the House of Yes in Brooklyn on June 21st in support of Body Language. Check out their other great single “Distractions” below. - John Honan

Gigawatts mag going out with a bang (and many bands) @ Alphaville on May 14/15

1.21 Gigawatts - a Brooklyn DIY magazine that did a great job of covering the scene's punky, garagey and psych emerging bands - is sadly closing and it will be gracing us one final time with their hosting skills come this weekend at Alphaville. With Deli favorites like Dead Stars, HaybabyDances, and 11 more taking the stage we can expect a weekend of great music and spectacular shows. On top of getting 14 amazing bands performing in two days, it’s all just $10. Insane, right? It is always with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye, but Gigawatts really knows how to go out with a bang (and how to give you more bang for your buck). So head on over to Alphaville this Saturday and Sunday for some memorable performances. Check out the playlist below to get a feeling of what you’ll be listening. - Adriana Ballester

Motion Studies bring their disco-post-punk to Muchmore's on 6.13

Active since 2012, NYC's collective Motion Studies produce what they call "Weird Disco," which sounds to us like post punk inspired electronic music with a beat. Funky bass lines, bizarre sounding distorted guitars and samples flirting with industrial music are reoccurring elements in their music. Their latest single "In Our Days" (streaming) represent the peak of their reportoire so far, and it's a driven tune full of sonic surprises that work within the context of the song. Definitely a band to keep an eye and two ears on, check them out at Mochmore's on June 13 within their label's Godmode's three year anniversary party.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!
