One of the most talked about bands in the booming Toronto garage scene has just released a new EP “Electric Pickle”. Possum really rock that California garage sound so well. Right up the same alley as Ty Segall and Thee Oh See’s. The appropriately named opening track “Party Jam” features a really groovy curveball of a breakdown. They got mindspinning bass lines on repeat while a noisy solo noodles you back into the head-knodding meat of the song. Fire up the EP for a quick of blast of deadly psych/garage tunes. Possum’s EP Release Party is Saturday at the Smiling Buddha with Double Date With Death, Vypers and Deaf. – Kris Gies

This band Possum is absolutely lighting up the garage scene in Toronto right now. There's a lot of buzz around whenever they are playing so the release of their latest EP came with much delight to many people. The EP titled "Quick Damage" is exactly that. 4 tracks of raw, in your face rock. The EP is quick but you can cause a lot of damage in the short time while listening...quick damage I get it. Possum will be playing Horseshoe Tavern on January 14th for Exclaim's Class of 2017 Series. Joining them will be New Swears, The Kents, Crazy Bones and the Detours. - Kris Gies

Besides having a sweet name, Jean Daddy plays some deadly garage punk tunes. They put together some fast n heavy rock tunes that'll make you drive like a maniac and pretty much make you not give a fuck in general. Listen to Salmon Candy to know what I'm talking about. This 4 piece band from Kitchener will be in Toronto on Friday Night at the Central with Wine Lips and Possum. - Kris Gies

Rock and/or roll from the Nation's Capital. Muelkik play a nice blend of different kinds of punk rock. I don't want to say "pop punk" and I'm not going to classify them as "hardcore" either. Their guitars rip and the vocals howl but they manage to do so in a way that leaves you hooked and wanting more. They could have definitely fit right in on the old Punk-O-Rama compilations from the 90s. I dig it. They have tunes available on their bandcamp page but better yet...go see them at Bovine Sex Club on Saturday with Wine Lips and Possum. - Kris Gies
