Total Slacker

Alexander F brings explosive garage pop to Baby's All Right on 02.11 for LP release

Alexander F is electric, loud, and something that you're not likely to forget, and from the opening bass hits of new single "Swimmers," you can tell that they're here to get rowdy. The Brooklyn-based garage pop band offers wild musings on the absurdity of life, but serve it up with a side punk snarls and raucous beats--yeilding a sound that's as fun and unhinged as it is utterly catchy. Check them out at Baby's All Right 2/11 alongside Total Slacker, Exhibition, and Really Big Pinecone for their new record release, but do yourself a favor and stream them below in the meantime. - Olivia Sisinni

Total Slacker announces new LP 'Parallels' + unveils single “Turn on The Lights”

One of the noisiest bands to grace the cover of The Deli Magazine (back in 2014, issue #37, which also featured an interview with Todd P), Total Slacker announced today the release of their third LP, entitled 'Parallels,' by unveiling single “Turn on The Lights,” which features epic overtones, '80s and '90s references and the usual wall of guitars; a wall that, in this song - rather uncharacteristically for the band - features "holes" that leave space for mellower interludes. 'Parallels' is scheduled for an August 19th release.

Gigawatts mag going out with a bang (and many bands) @ Alphaville on May 14/15

1.21 Gigawatts - a Brooklyn DIY magazine that did a great job of covering the scene's punky, garagey and psych emerging bands - is sadly closing and it will be gracing us one final time with their hosting skills come this weekend at Alphaville. With Deli favorites like Dead Stars, HaybabyDances, and 11 more taking the stage we can expect a weekend of great music and spectacular shows. On top of getting 14 amazing bands performing in two days, it’s all just $10. Insane, right? It is always with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye, but Gigawatts really knows how to go out with a bang (and how to give you more bang for your buck). So head on over to Alphaville this Saturday and Sunday for some memorable performances. Check out the playlist below to get a feeling of what you’ll be listening. - Adriana Ballester

Out In The Streets Festival bringing local music and art to Ridgewood, Queens this weekend (08.01 - 08.02)

Now in its 6th year, Out In the Streets Festival is back in action to bring your favorite indie bands to Queens for a weekend of art, food, fun, and music. Hosted at the historic Onderdonk House in Ridgewood, the outdoor fest is the smaller, DIY version of all the big summer music festivals that have competed for your attention and presence in the past few months. Since it began on a street corner in Bushwick in 2009, Out In the Streets has kept itself homegrown and independent but continues to grow every year, celebrating local artists and eateries in this two-day multimedia festival. The lineup includes bands like Mr Twin Sister, Total Slacker, The Love Supreme, Wild Yaks, Salt Cathedral and many more. The bands performing this weekend are all mostly NYC-based, and the lineup on Sunday is featuring local bands from Bushwick and Ridgewood. Full weekend passes are still available for only $35, with one day tickets going for $20, on sale here. Check out a Spotify compilation of all the performing bands here, or streaming below. - Sam O'Hara

Delicious Audio Features: Total Slacker's Pedals, Equipment and Recording

Self-described slimegaze practitioners Total Slacker may nod to early Weezer with their loose and dirty pop, and Sonic Youth with the tense and dissonant guitar work, but singer/songwriter Tucker Rountree bakes his own kind of fuzzy bud into his Fender, keeping the party moving way past Y2K.  We asked the band a few questions related to recording... read it here
