We´re excited to share the news up the 4th Annual 20th Street Block Party in San Francisco!

Noise Pop is excited to announce the music lineup for the fourth annual 20th Street Block Party taking place Saturday, August 20 from noon to 6:00 p.m.  The event will take place on 20th Street between Harrison and Bryant streets in the Mission district; however, this year the party has expanded to include 19th Street, also between Harrison and Bryant. The free neighborhood celebration of music, food and drink, and art just outside the doors of Noise Pop HQ will bring some of the community’s best sights, sounds and flavors to thousands of guests throughout the afternoon.

While the two are often correlated, it's not always necessary for music that's catchy to be pristine as well. Boston band Earth Heart is a prime example of this: with their shout-sung vocals, swampy drums and lo-fi guitars, they do their darn best to produce a sound that's abrasive, but thanks to the great songwriting, their music is still very satisfying. While mostly sticking to this garage pop sound on their previous tracks, such as recent single "Homesick" (streaming below), the Boston trio has shown the ability to pull off more "avant" stuff as well, like in their nearly nine minute track "BURN" from 2014. This versatility and talent should make their debut LP, due on 8/5, interesting to say the least. Earth Heart also made an appearance on WEMF radio's Sticky Hits program on 5/28, and will be performing live at the pin Out of the Blue Too Art Gallery on July 13th. - Henry Solotaroff-Webber

Congrats to Allison Crutchfield (Swearin', P.S. Eliot), who just announced that she'll be joining her sis, Katie Crutchfield (a.k.a. Waxahatchee), on the roster at Merge Records! Her yet-to-be-titled LP will be out next year. Here's what Allison had to say about this momentous occasion. 

“Signing with Merge was always sort of a fantasy milestone in my mind, like winning an Oscar or opening a bakery in New England. It was something I dreamed about a hundred times as a teenager but never thought could actually happen. I’ve been fortunate enough to really get to know the Merge family over the last year, and now that I’m a grown-up, I’m so grateful to be able to call Merge home.”

Mary Lattimore & Jeff Zeigler have a new LP coming out, called Music Inspired by Phillippe Garrel’s Le Révélateur. It's an original soundtrack/score for the short experimental film that is meant to capture the civil unrest occurring in Paris in May, 1968, which lead to a virtual halt of the French economy. The footage was purposely left silent. The album comes out on July 22 via Thrill Jockey, and the duo, who premiered the live soundtrack, along with the movie, in February at the Getty Museum in LA and has already performed it twice in Philly, will be bringing the event to Brooklyn on Tuesday, July 26 at the Nitehawk Cinema.
