The Deli's NYC issue #44 is online!

Deli Readers,

I know, it seems like we put our latest issue out just the other day - but no, we haven't switched to monthly. It's just that the fall in NYC is a busy time for us, and with CMJ week and our NYC Synth Expo (linked to BEMF) coming up, there's a lot to write about.

Here's our 44th issue of The Deli NYC (one of our finest!). Check out cover band Stolen Jars, they'll be performing at one of the (several) Deli CMJ 2015 shows!

CMJ Show Opportunity: Submit your band to play one of The Deli's Music Marathon 2015 shows! (FREE)

Musicians in The Deli World (i.e. the 12 local US scenes we cover - list here),

Once again, The Deli will give some emerging bands and artists the opportunity to play at one of its CMJ 2015 Music Marathon showcases.

This year we have booked a bunch of shows in the Lower East Side (Pianos on Friday night and Rockwood on Wednesday!) and Williamsburg (The Living Room on Saturday and Muchmore's on Thursday!), and - as usual - we'll have several stages for different musical genres.

We are looking to book 3 or more artists for these shows through this submissions system.

To be considered, all you need to do is to apply HERE - good luck!

Submission deadline: August 15, 2015.

The Magnetic Snarl of VHS

To who it may concern,

New trash punkers, VHS, will fill up yer ever lovin’ head with their particular design of garage snot. A gross amalgamation of; florescent vocals from basement realms, hard biting lyrical solos, noisy anthems floating high above the fray, and steel guitar strings sawing through glass (which has never been quite so euphonious), all wrapped up in the magnetic world of VHS. For reference think early Cribs, Wipers, or the late Jay Reatard (RIP). You still ridin’ homie? …aces! Then stumble your ass down to the Crocodile on the 7th of July and give this now freshly toured squad a what up! They join post-rockers Trans Am and Midday Veil to burn it down. New EP “Chocking on the Fruit” released late last month, HAVE A HEAR.

The bludgeoning swagger of Crazy Eyes

The streets are alive tonight with cacophonous bursts of jazzy cum and mangled Rock and Roll. A lonely neighborhood cool cat starts off the jam with a scratchy guitar, while a homeless dog plays the honky-tonk piano with a percussive fervor. Trash can fire vocals (sparked by the Mael brothers) howl at the moon, and soon a small audience of stoned Rock and Roll addicts surround the fire while Crazy Eyes feed it with their bludgeoning R’n’B stomp. With enough hooky noise and jumble jangle rhythms to hold up a small convenience store, Crazy Eyes toss swagger thoughtfully throughout the street; sometimes they throw in a pretty little ditty too, shedding sarcasm and spreading goo all over the city wherever they may go. While all the denizens of trash city chime in on the choruses and ring in the new era of grimy rock and roll prosperity.
